Quoting Annette Bening

Acting is not about being famous, it’s about exploring the human soul

When you become an actor and you play so many and so different roles, you almost don’t belong to yourself anymore. Part of your soul goes into that role and part of that character comes into your soul. It is an exchange that happens when the actor identifies himself with the role. Who cares about how much money do you make? Acting is pure psychology. It somehow helps you empathise, you can try different attitudes, you can be more persons in just one life and obviously you learn more about human nature than any other therapist. You don’t just see the character, you are the character and you act in consequence! Fame is, in that matter, for those who haven’t understood  the meaning of being a real actor so they take money as a cheap reward for something they don’t actually do!
