Justin Theroux: I only want to do things that I want to do

Justin Theroux: I only want to do things that I want to do

I wasn’t particularly good at anything academic. Math is still a magic trick to me. Acting was the thing I gravitated to, because I enjoyed it

Justin Theroux is no academician and he knows it. But that’s all right because he has the acting and that’s enough. It’s what he likes to do.

“Acting is a job of permission. Someone has to give you permission to do it. But I have started to be like, ‘I only want to do things that I want to do’ and writing has afforded me the luxury. Being handed a well-thought-out, beautifully written piece of material that I don’t have to affect at all, except for performing it.… It’s a joy to read something I have no desire whatsoever to change. Writing is hard”, he explained in his recent interview with ELLE.
