My New Year’s resolution is to learn how to meditate. It’s always sounded like something I should do, but I don’t know how to. My friends who do it say it’s really freakin’ brilliant. They say you can’t know the peace/awareness/contentment until you do it. My brain drives me mental. I am going to start. Tomorrow. I asked three amazing people to share how they achieve this bliss. Their approaches are different but I think they are pretty much landing in the same spot. I think I get it. Love, Gwyneth.

Gwyneth Paltrow
Does she need to sign the quote for us to understand who wrote this masterpiece? Gwyneth Paltrow is unmistakable in this matter. Are you ready to take this piece by piece? Children should try logical exercises on her speeches!
So the Goop has a new resolution and that’s to learn how to meditate. In case she reads this, theoretically speaking, a meditation is a mental discipline by which the practitioner attempts to get beyond the reflexive, “thinking” mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. In another words, Goop you have to lose yourself and your mental connection to the reality and just feel what comes to you without reject it. (Unless what comes to you is a thought about food or sleep).
And yes you can achieve the peace/awareness/contentment, but only if your find yourself able to totally abandon your thoughts to this action. Also, talking about meditation in terms such as “freakin’ brilliant” is somehow a first wrong step. Meditation, Goop, is not when you drink too more beer and you become dizzy.
Now lets translate what you want to say by “My brain drives me mental”. You most likely want to say that you can not make abstraction of your brain, meaning you think that you think (although we all can see that you don’t) and by that you can not let yourself taken by the meditation wave.
And if you don’t mind, Goop one of the many approaches you could handle in order to excel in meditation would be to talk less…unless you have a script to tell you exactly what to say. You know, another way to achieve wisdom is inner (and outdoor)silence. Try it!
