He [Barack Obama] misinterpreted his mandate. He’s doubled down on a lot of things
Piers Morgan asked Matt Damon if he was happy with the way President Barack Obama has been running the country. And the actor said “No”. He gave the same answer to the question whether he’s an Obama fan or not.
“He [Barack Obama] misinterpreted his mandate. He’s doubled down on a lot of things”, Damon said. “In his State of the Union he didn’t even say the word “poverty”. You’ve got millions of people languishing in it”, the actor added.
On the other hand, Damon said he thought the president was a “deep thinker” , “brilliant”, but that he “definitely wanted more”.
On the Afghanistan issue, Damon said: “I don’t think the mission there has been very well articulated. And I think it would help to kind of reframe the way we’re thinking about being there and why we’re there”.
The actor remembered everybody his disapproval of Sarah Palin. “She’s not somebody who I would vote for”, the actor said, adding that he’s passionate about politics, but he has no political aspirations.
