I’d much rather have a family [than a career]
Nicole Kidman: I choose family over career
Talking about kids and family being more important than a career it’s what celebrities do these days. No one can say for sure that they are just pretending, but it has become such a fashion you don’t know what to believe anymore.
Take Nicole Kidman for example. The actress is the cover girl of the newest issue of The Edit, net-a-porter.com’s in-house magazine. She looks good, but it could as well be the result of Botox and Photoshop. Anyway, she’s 47 and a magazine has decided to cover her. That’s good.
In the interview, Nicole mostly talks about being a woman in show business and how much her husband Keith Urban helps her to balance family and work. “Ultimately I ask Keith, ‘Is this a possibility to do?’ It may sound old-fashioned, but I want the family to work. And I feel pain when I’m away; I literally feel a yearning and a pain”, she said.
Plus, she thinks that things have changed and actresses are being judged for other skills than just acting. “For actresses, if you’re in a relationship, there’s an enormous amount of give and take, particularly when you get pregnant. They say your art gets affected when you have a family, but I’d much rather have a family. Having experienced the greatest awards and accolades, the idea of being alone with that doesn’t work for me. It may for somebody else, but it’s not for me”, she explained.
