It was just a joke and it wasn’t directed to anyone in particular

Yunel Escobar wears "f**got" message on his eye black patches
Yunel Escobar made a pretty bad joke. During his team, Toronto Blue Jays against Boston game, the shortstop wore eye black patches with the Spanish word for “f**got”. The 29-year-old player was hit with a 3 game suspension for decorating his eye like that. “It was just a joke and it wasn’t directed to anyone in particular”, he said.
“I feel bad, I’m leaving my team for something I didn’t intend to do. I have nothing against the gay community and honestly I’m sorry”, he added.
Escobar said that the phrase has a different meaning in Spanish. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to clarify what it meant to him or why he wrote it.
Good news though: Escobar will send part of his salary to GLAAD, a gay rights organization.
