Zooey Deschanel is the cover girl dor Marie Claire’s May issue. Cover girl, interviewed girl. The 32-year-old actress opened about her fame, her life before being famous, dating, children and about how people see her.

Speaking of this last one topic, the actress admitted that people think she’s weird. “I don’t know why”, she added.

Ever since she started playing Jess on  the Fox series ‘New Girl‘, the actress was criticized for  playing a “stereotype of female meekness, for being too girly, too dorky, too Zooey”.

Actually Jess is very sweet. She knows to make fun of herself, she dresses like a girl, but it suits her, she’s kind and she laughs a lot. That’s what makes a woman beautiful…in her own way.

Zooey also talked about dating saying that she wasn’t ready for a new commitment. “Honestly, I’m just going through a divorce, so I don’t really think that’s something I want to get into now. I don’t have time to date. I literally – don’t-have-time”, she said. Zooey got engaged to  musician Ben Gibbard, lead vocalist for The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie in late 2008. They were married in September 2009. In November 2011, they announced their separation with Zooey filing for divorce in late 2011.

The actress also revealed she doesn’t want to have children. “That’s never been my focus… My sister [Emily] was always very motherly, babysitting and stuff. I like kids, and I like being around kids – but it was never an ambition, something, like, I need…I like working. That’s what I like doing. I like to work”, she said. That’s just wonderful. Not the fact that she doesn’t want to become a mother, but the fact that she admits it. Usually, the actresses pretend to be the perfect mothers even before experiencing motherhood.
